Attempted Assault

Ada appeared with Roxas in a small bedroom. The room was bare except for a bed with a nightstand on one wall and a window that displayed the darkness of outside above the bed. Roxas flopped onto the mattress as Ada sat near the foot and rotated her wrist. A candle appeared on the nightstand, giving light to the room.

Roxas grinned. “Let’s go back tomorrow so I can hit Elizabeth.”

“You didn’t have to do that, Roxas.” Ada said, turning to him.

“They didn’t know what they were talking about.” Roxas replied, his smile fading as he stared up at the ceiling.

“You miss her, don’t you?”

“I don’t think I’ll ever miss your sisters.” Roxas answered, putting his hands behind his head, “Sorry, Ada.”

Ada squinted. “You know who I’m taking about, Roxas.”

He sighed and said, “I know.” A short silence hung in the air before Roxas spoke again. “Yeah, I do miss her. If it wasn’t for the barrier Kazuo set up, I’d probably be at the orphanage right now.”

Ada rotated her wrist, causing her marking to glow. A palm-sized yellow sphere landed in her hand. She held out the globe to Roxas. “You can always use this.”

“I haven’t used it in awhile,” Roxas said, “It feels wrong to.”

“So, you’re saying that you don’t want to?” Ada asked, tossing the globe for hand to hand.

Roxas shifted to his side, facing the wall. “It’s Irene’s privacy and I don’t want to invade it.”

“Fine.” Ada sighed as the strange globe vanished. She stood, exiting the room, leaving the air silent as the candle vanished.

Sophia’s dark eyes watched as Roxas slept silently; his back rising and falling in a slow pattern. She leaned against the wall opposite of him, pondering why he was with Ada.

Mother did say he had a difficult past. She thought, remembering the conversation Elizabeth had recited when she had woken only hours ago. I wish I knew what had made him so mental.

Sophia’s hand touched the spot where Roxas had hit. The pain was gone, thankfully, but Sophia couldn’t erase the image of Roxas’ face.

What is his problem? Sophia felt anger build up inside her as she continued to watch Roxas. Morning light peeked through the window above him, soft red light that indicated the rise of the sun creped across the room and to Sophia’s face. I make one stupid fact about humans and he goes insane.

She shook her head as small green circles glowed at the fingertips of one hand. A bolt of electricity shot down her arm, making her hand twitch, as the circles joined together, forming a larger one on her palm.

He won’t be misplaced for long so it doesn’t matter. Sophia thought with an almost adoring expression as she started to cross the room. I’ll put this freak in a better place, saying that he went insane and killed himself when I was visiting my dear sister.

She reached with the spell-enhanced hand to Roxas, about to place it on his shoulder and cause his entire body to be paralyzed. When she was no more than inches from her target, Roxas became a brief blur before Sophia found herself pinned face-first to the floor. Her hands were trapped in between her shoulder blades and the spell had been extinguished.

“And you call me a freak.” Roxas said with a perfect imitation of Sophia’s arrogant smirk. “At least I don’t try to kill people while they sleep.”

“Why you…” Sophia began struggling, trying to slip out of Roxas’ grip.

Roxas placed a finger on the back of her neck. A white circle appeared, pulsing through the rest of her body. Immediately, she dropped to the ground, unmoving. Roxas stood up, taking a short stride to crouch down next to her face. Sophia’s breath shook with anger as her eyes locked on Roxas.

Roxas smiled. “Oh, I’m so sorry. Did I offend the freak?”

Sophia let out a long fuming breath through her nose in reply as Roxas grinned. Roxas got to his feet once more, his smile ceasing when he heard a faint tap. He turned, willing his ears to have deceived him, when a sharp pain went through his arm. Cringing, Roxas placed his hand on the wound, bright red blood seeping through his fingers, as he quickly scanned the room for the source of the spell. Two more invisible blades sliced his skin, each wound larger than the last, and Roxas dropped to his knees, feeling his strength fade away.

More and more came at blinding speed from different angles; Roxas unable to do anything but feel as his body became covered with cuts. He opened his mouth, letting out a scream. Roxas felt his heart speed up, the deep sound echoing in his ears until it drown out everything.
Yes I know.. short chapter

EDIT: I've absolutely hated this chapter ever since I've posted it... Finally got around to revising it (yes, I know I'm slow) so now it's way better.

Enjoy!

he's a fun character. Sophia seems a bit stereotypical for her role(and im finding myself reminded of the REAL Queen Elizabeth's half Sister Mary)
